Swayam Siddha Project
Concept : -

For empowering the women socially, efforts were concentrated on empowering them economically. The credit flow to rural women was channelled through Self-Help Groups and Clusters at a large stage. Though women have many inherent capabilities like strong determination, sense of responsibility, better managerial ability, yet their potential has not been utilized fully. Looking at the present status of women in agriculture and their limited access to resources, the need of the day is to make women as "partners" in development, not only as mere "beneficiaries" but also as "contributors".

Keeping the same in mind, we intensified our efforts in the Sustainable Agricultural & Women Empowerment through Rural Approach (SAWERA) which was started in Baghpat to build SHG for sustainable agriculture for food security and economic empowerment of women. Keeping pace with the time, Aseed covered 37 villages of the Khera block and formed 102 Groups. These groups were provided the IGA training to enable them to start diversified agro activities like Animal Rearing, Piggery, Poultary etc.
Focus : -

Our focus remained concentrated on gender training, training of women farmer groups, particularly BPL women groups, micro planning and training related to total farm management including irrigation management for making them self-sufficient. Apart from this, various social issues like women empowerment, abortion, alcoholism, child marriage, girl's education, sex determination, health, sanitation etc. were undertaken. The main focus of the project's work has been upscaling the work on linkages with other institutions, namely of the Government, the
Women Empowerment

Panchayat-level and Block-level officers. These new linkages are enabling the groups to get micro finance and loans from the banks to start micro enterprises. The sustainability of the groups is being strengtherned in this way even after the completion of the project.
Approaches : -

For successful implementation of the programme, there were various challenges before the Aseed Team. Considering the challenges experienced, consultants were involved for the preparation of action plan. To begin with, 30 women SHGs were selected according to the programme guidelines. Meeting with all the expected outcomes and the benefits of the programme were also discussed and the schemes of assistance and its proper utilization emplasized. The SHGs were also guided to prepare their micro plan and guidelines were provided to them to enhance effective SHGs to get better results for different types of membership up to 15 members as initially the number of members, in most of the groups was more than 10 but less than 15.
Outcomes : -

This project has started from 2001-2007 and also conducted various programmes shown below. It has helped in setting up more than 125 educational & vocational centres with a focus on girlchild education and empowerment. It has built up capacity of more than 10500 grassroot and development functionary and the area of women empowerment.
