Building
Sustainable Livelihood Together |
| |
For
sustainable livelihood creation, we emphasize the concept
of human rights of the citizens for their social, economic
and cultural development, human values, justice and
equitable society. We aim to provide the right to self-determination
which is the best lifestyle demanding access to adequate
standard for living, including food, shelter, clothing,
livelihood and employment. Minimum standards of sustainable
livelihood can only be achieved by providing an equal
opportunity to all the sections of people for employment
and ownership and access to natural resources. |
| |
Growth
in the society is directly dependent on human beings,
both men and women. They both are partners in development
of the society. Not every society is sustainable. A
sustainable development with a focus on gender equality.
In India, the share of women population to the total
population is almost equal to that of men, but their
role in the development of societies has been neglected
and underestimated. Now, the time has come when women
need to be recognized as an important force as men in
the overall process of development. |

Food
Security & Livelihood : - |
| |
|
Food
security is the prime basic necessity for rural women,
particularly BPL women. Aseed, under the sponsorship
of UNDP and the State Institute for Management of Agriculture,
has taken up SAWERA (Sustainable Agriculture for Women
Empowerment through Rural Application) project in the
Khekra block of Baghpat district. |
| |
|
Convergence
with other NGOs, govt. departments and donor agencies
helped us to organize capacity building for women farmers
at places near their households to help them manage
their work. Women farmers were also provided financial
assistance to purchase agricultural implements. The
grant of Rs. 10,000 /- was given to the groups for the
purchase of agricultural implements like sprayers, pipes,
fodder machines, etc. The implements are also given
on hire and with the rent received, repairs of these
implements are undertaken. Implements worth Rs. 96,000
/- have already been purchased. This has helped the
NGO earn an edge over other organizations in the area
in winning the trust of the community. |

Learning
by Seeing and Doing at Grassroot Level : - |
| |
|
Aseed
provided training in income generation and micro finance
through the master trainers to fulfil the desire for
sustainable development. Training in income generation
activities like dairy, piggery, vermi-composting, beauty
parlours, ration shops etc. has been taken up. To kickstart
the micro enterprise venture by women, micro finance
assistance of Rs. 10,000 /- has been disbursed to each
group in the Bhaghpat district one block itself. Thus,
141 enterprises on an individual basis and 3 on a group
basis have already started. For capacity building of
clusters, cluster-level workshops were also arranged. |
| |
|
To
start the micro entrepreneurial venture of their own,
we knew that there could be no way other than following
the pattern of learning by seeing. Hence, we organized
a series of exposure visits-cum-educational tours where
405 members of 24 SHGs have been sent to different fairs
and technical institutions for exposure and technical
knowledge. |
